Our Kids Swimming Lessons

John Sugden Swim School is the best place for your children to learn to swim, with unique, proven programs based on three development stages – Brain, Stimulation, and Movement. We offer specialized swimming classes at pools in Kew for children of all ages under 16 from Monday to Thursday and Saturday, and in our swimming pool at Glen Waverly on Sunday. Our swimming program is developed for the swimmers to use their instincts to swim around in the water. The primary focus of this intensive swimming program for kids is on water safety. Proper instruction and lessons help your kids develop vital skills that help them stay safe in and under the water.

With more than three decades of experience in designing professional coaching programs for swimmers and athletes, John Sudgen has developed a whole new approach to teach swimming in a way that redefines the swimming technique, the overall approach to swimming, and water safety among the children with exclusive kids swimming lessons.

We have a total of 8 levels divided into 3 categories, each with a distinct objective:

Billabong – comprises the first two beginner classes which focus on the development of Water craft and safety.

Lake – comprises of three class levels which continue the water craft as learnt in Billabong but extends the focus on to learning correct Swim craft.

Ocean – trains the swimmers for competitiveness in a variety of disciplines and begins the “Champions Journey” for our students.

Call today and we’ll book a free assessment to allow us to determine the right class for you or your children.

NUMBAT is the Junior Squad. It is the squad preparing for competition, if the swimmer is interested. It runs for 60 mins and as a member of the NUMBAT Squad each swimmer has the opportunity to attend 2 x Adult Squad sessions in addition to any number of the 3 NUMBAT Squad sessions, in a one week period. The Adult Squad is also available during School Holidays (not Christmas/Summer break). Guided by JSSS coaches the NUMBAT swimmers provide their own Goal Times, each term. This again helps to develop awareness & ownership over their quality of body position during very fast swimming, ie, during Time Trials. We Teach the Right Swimming Techniques in the Best Learning Environment

When you plan to enroll in our kids swimming lessons, you need to make sure that your child learns the correct swimming techniques in the right learning environment. Childhood is the time when kids learn very quickly and develop high-level skills in any area they want to excel. It is therefore recommended for kids to start learning swimming as soon as they can from infants to 16 years of age.
At John Sudgen Swim School, we are dedicated to teaching professional swimming techniques along with the water safety lessons that are a must for children. We are dedicated to giving quality instruction and technique to children while in and around the swimming pools.

Why choose JSSS for Kids Swimming Lesson?

At John Sudgen Swim School, we make certain that the kids learn swimming in a fun, playful, comfortable and safe environment at all times. Our specialized swimming lessons for kids in Kew offer a different approach to teaching swimming easily and efficiently with different stages of development. We go beyond the use of flotation equipment while teaching the kids to swim and help them develop and use their instincts to swim as naturally as possible inside water. Here’s why we outperform others when it comes to teaching your kids to swim in the water for early learners to children becoming expert in swimming.

Three-stage Swimming Development Process

We tend to follow a three-stage development process for teaching swimming most practically and the lesson stays with your kids life-long. We follow a unique development process with brain, stimulation, and movement being the three stages. In the first stage, the emotional comfort of the brain is established to swim underwater. Then follows the stimulation and movement stages to develop the mind-body connection when inside the water.

Focused on Water Safety and Survival

When your child starts to learn swimming, there is a lot more to learn than just swimming in the water. Kids should be taught how to stay safe when in and around water. Our comprehensive swimming program is focused on developing the water safety skills in kids and so they know how to survive when in water. We follow a step by step method to teach the complex task of swimming in an easy and highly efficient manner.

Qualified and Highly Experienced Teachers

Our swim teachers are highly qualified and backed up by John Sugden with 25 years of experience. We’ve developed unique swimming programs and tought swimming classes for athletes and swimmers. Our classes are divided into 8 levels taught in 3 categories. The swimming levels are classified into learning to swim in the Billabong category, the Lake and the Ocean. Our trained and qualified teachers make sure that your child becomes a proficient swimmer by the end of this program learning all the water safety skills.
